Pencil Revolution Press, LLC - Upcycled Library Book Journal
I rescue intact covers from discarded library books, trim them to size, and I make them into new journals and sketchbooks. Using the durable and flexible Coptic binding, I fill the covers in with quality paper to make a blank book that is truly one of a kind. Most are about A5 sized -- 8-9 inches tall by 5-6 inches wide. The nature of the covers means there is a small bit of fluctuation. I use waxed thread that compliments the covers, and I like to use paper that will stand up for inky media like fountain pens. In the back of each book is a card holder I modeled from an old Pratt library book I found, containing a library card with relevant information for your individual book.
All of the paper stocks that I use in these upcycled volumes is made in the United States, Japan, and France -- all from sustainable sources.
